This day was really good- I think mainly because it was the first day in a long time that I actually woke up well rested, was able to do a REAL work out and sweat out the icky winter feeling, and of course the fact that I didn't have to work AT ALL.

I got the urge to clean and while cleaning in my room knocked over a wax warmer thing and well ended up making a much bigger mess that i'm STILL cleaning. Thing like large jar candle all melted inside. I think i'll smell like fresh linen and my room will smell like fresh linen until april or may. I'm reallllly anxious to get home, I've been packing and getting ready since saturday. I'm really worried now though b/c my mom is sick from high blood pressure stuff and I know that 2nd graders overdue for christmas and a lot of family is not going to help any. I feel guilty being here and want to be there to help.

I walked on IU campus today and had a kumbayah moment with myself. I hadn't really walked around since I shut the campus scene out of my life late in september. After spending time at the Fiji house recently all of the feelings from the other side of the list, "Why I should stay at IU", came back to me. I have hardly seen Amanda, Alli and Sarah compared to last year, ignore calls from a lot of my guy friends b/c i'll be at wabash, and don't do the things like work out at the HPER and other things I should take advantage of. But after really thinking about it, I don't have any doubt in my mind that I will ever regret not staying at IU. I was not in student mode, and for me to realize what student mode for me is - I needed to take a break for awhile and not be forced to go through the motions. Also I have learned so much about first impressions by living with my roomates. I consider these 3 some of my closest friends and I lived an entire year next door, down the hall and across the hall from all three. I dubbed Melanie as someone I would never be close with but - that is because she and I are exactly the same person. I now know she was just distant b/c she was trying to have a life seperate than Amanda in college. I needed this year and it will be a year that I know that I will always remember it when I think about taking risks, having courage, and doing the right thing for you even when people you love the most are skeptical. I have a lot to be thankful for at the end of this year. Can you believe that my life has tailspinned SO fast? 360 days ago I was practiceing my answers on what i'm studying, and why I want to rush theta. I was blonde, not at all in the mindset of going to law school, friends with melissa bruckman, had no idea what wabash college even was. ohhhh my life. I can't even keep up with myself.

So everyone left me. I was really pumped for awhile for my roomates to leave to clean the place because during finals it got gross but now i'm super lonley and want them here. So far with my freedom I accidently fell asleep while waiting for the call that my friend ty was going to pick me up. Whooops, missed that date. I ended up just sleeping the entire night and slept for almost 15 hours straight. Then Today (sunday) I worked from 11-4:30, grocery shopped for just fresh stuff and milk, and now i'm watching the office box set while sipping wine. I would try to be productive tonight but I work tomrrow at 5 am so i'm trying to just relax and make myself tierd so I can fall asleep early. My plan is that I can get all of my crafting of Christmas gifts done tomorrow afternoon (I get off at like 2) and then I don't work at all on tuesday. That is a huge chunk and hopefully i'll pre productive.

oh also, I just made the best home made ravioli evvverrrrr

also, also, I miss columbus/1650 berkshire/mom/dad/scones/igloo/emerson/my yellow room more than anything right now.

This holiday season has been very merry (as it should be). I am staying in my room tonight though because my roommates are all in that "finals week" anger that I know just to avoid. I don't want to be the jackass sitting around jolly, making home made jewelry for Christmas presents. I really am regretting that I will not see my friends from home for that long but hopefully I'll just make that 4 days congested with reuniting with all of my favorite people. It hit me today that this is the longest period of time that I've ever been without seeing Poppy, my grandpa. He is the definition of man and basically the coolest grandpa ever so I am eagerly awaiting to spend time with him.

The week after Thanksgiving was kind of long because I was getting the hang of how work changes during the holiday season. There are a lot more rude customers, a lot more merchandise, and a lot of new dumb seasonal cashiers that ask me the stupidest questions. I've learned how to pace myself at work and just laugh at the customers that are so anal and rude about the size of their glitter. I found out today that we get EVERY class free so I am going to start attending everyone that I can just I can get the basic skills down and be more knowledgeable. Almost all of my gifts are handmade with love :)

I've gotten back to my freshman year roots and attended two fraternity date things last week. I spent the weekend at Wabash with Chad Finley for his "Beta Soiree". Melanie was originally going to be there with Mike but Mike's Grandpa died on Friday so it turned out I was there just for Chad and it made it even more of a "I'm chad's girlfriend" type of thing. It's a bummer he is going abroad next semester, because we get along really well. I mean, I took him antique shopping with me on Saturday afternoon and he admittedly enjoyed it because he found sweet shot glasses.
I had a blast from the past going to the Fiji Christmas Date Party with Brice Keefer on Wednesday. One of my best friends from Freshman year, Alli Shearer, went too so we made the dates pick us up from the sorority house. All of the boys in the house were so happy to see "mama bear" was alive. I made the vow to start going there more often while I can next semester.

Last week we had major roommate bonding because Tara's boyfriend ended up being a jackass and she had to break up with him over a bunch of sneaking around he did. He was the last person I would ever guess to do this, so it was extremely shocking. This lead to us throwing a big party on Saturday to celebrate Tara's birthday and her new singledom. There weren't as many guests as we originally assumed but the people I would want to see did come. The mess was minor and I didn't have anyone here that I had to entertain, so I could just really enjoy it. Pictures from the weekend included:)

I am lying in my bed in so much pain from being so tierd, and pain just shooting through my neck and back. This weekend proved to be crazier than expected, but this isn't from my weekend. I felt perfect yesterday - I mean I alittle on the lazy side but that is how watching NFL is supposed to be. I called at 6pm on sunday to see when I worked the next day because they were slow on making this weeks schedule, 5 am was my answer. YUCK I had slept kinda late and napped so I just eneded up staying up until 5 because I knew I wouldn't make it otherwise. It wasn't just normal unloading though- when I got there we had heavy lifting from the freight truck and I am in desperate need of new tennis shoes for back support so basically I was a big ball of pain and grumpiness trying my best to let the holiday cheer shine on my un-makeup, dry, lifeless face. So that work, other than that things are great. They actually gave me off Friday and Saturday so I can go home for the OSU/Michigan game.

On a much happier note, I think I found the most adorable school rivalry. Wabash v. Depauw is called the monan bell rivalry and the big deal is they gaurd this old bell from the railroad inbetween the two schools and the freshman on campus are the security guards for it if they won it the previous year. Also, once you win it the bell travels from fraternity to fraternity all night (keep in mind it is 300 lbs.) and everyone that wants to drinks beer out of it even all the parents. Then This week they have to ring it every minute or every hour? I'm not sure but they boys were so excited to win the bell, and I was especially happy because since it's such a small school we could rush the field, go and hug the boys right after in their muddy gear but you got the see just how in the moment they were. I was urged by everyonel to go under the bell and one of the alums had slipped whiskey in the bell too so when the beer and whiskey mix got in to my eye and up all the way in my nose---- lets just say I was out of commission for awhile and joined the party after the bell had left the Beta Theta Pi house. Nevertheless I am happy I took part in the festivities. It's so odd how well I get along with these boys, I realized how good of friends I consider them when I got to introduce Elyse to all of them and they got to introduce me to their parents as one of their really good friends. Sitting around on Sundays watching the Bears and Colts is probably one of my favorite traditions. I think I had a big void last year of the "hanging out" with guys. I usually only saw the boys on weekend nights, and when they were drunk. Also I don't feel like I have to be coupled off to be accepted.

Ok well maybe i'll write more later but as of now i'm about die from hunger pains. keep it real

On our Kitchen Stools:

I get so angry at our heating system. Ok we have 3 floors, and floor one is about 60 degrees, floor two 70-75 and floor three (my bedroom) is about 90. I don't want to switch rooms so that It's 60 degrees, but waking up sweating in november is unnecessary. When it would get too cold I always put my marker bin over the vent, but i'm afraid that if I put it over when its hot it will melt. Any solutions from my loyal readers?

Although it is technically now "Holiday Season", I feel like I have already been holiday-ed out from the day that I had to clean out all the boxes that had broken glass ornaments. I will say that I am pumped to decorate our tree/house. I am focusing on using cranberries and holly because Red is the accent color in Living Room where the tree will go. I was ready to take down the halloween decorations this morning. We had pillow stuffing as cobwebs and i kept finding random pieces in our wine fridge with bits of wine that dripped out of the box and then it would be all sticky and extremely gross. Also I am excited we are having a house thanksgiving the sunday before. It'll feel like thanksgiving because we can sit around all day, and watch football woo ( I am a converted Bears fan). The boyfriends are all coming and I will have the boy I like the best that weekend hahah Just kididng hopefully Boosh and Alli will come, or Brian Leis idk, we'll see. I have to come back from Michigan Weekend earlier than I thought but Thanksgiving with my 3 favorite roomates and the boys that put up with me..... wouldn't miss it for the world.

This weekend turned out to be a extremely successful, low stress halloween. I didn't spend any money on costumes, Fell Asleep extremely easy both nights, woke up both mornings without hangovers , and partied with everyone that I would want to party with at IU. On Friday I stuck with Nicci and Tara, and we were joined by a friend from our floor that trandferred to southern Indiana. Saturday I had to work all night but it almost added to the excitment because when 9:30 hit, I hurried home and plugged in the curlers and started blasting a mix of songs that remind me of Akita because Katie Williams was staying with me. We went to a 2 house party at the Villas a townhouse complex across from the stadium and stayed there the whole night. It was thrown by guys that went to high school with Mel and Amanda and had such a great time hanging out with all of them.

This week has been kind of blah, I mean It was rainy Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I have dealt with the beginning of the blah weather with exercising every day, and because I no longer work cash register I get a really good workout from work too so I am feeling great. I have been reading during all of my breaks instead of leaving and I finished a book called "Entre Nous; A woman's guide to finding her inner French Girl". It was cute, and since i've been teaching myself french all year learning the culture really supplemented it. I don't know how exactly I started such a fascination with their culture. Today I am started a book called "Freakonomics". I'll let you know how it goes.

This weekend I am hitching a ride with Melanie to Wabash on Saturday night because Mikes Frat is having a huge Toga Party. Their frat is really old school because it's a all boys school so i'm really pumped to feel like i'm in Animal House for a night. I have a blue satin toga from one of my friends and flat silver sandels that lace up my foot. Alright I have work at 12 so I better so make myself presentable. Have a good day!

11:39

I HAVE A JOB!!! Well just a 15 hours a week job, but still.... thats a job! How exciting:) Oh I forgot to ad. It's at Michael's Craft Store. I think I start on Saturday wooo

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

5:16

I have a Job interview tomorrow at Michael's (the craft store)!! He gave me a mini phone interview, asked me the legitimacy of the Akita Craft Cabin. I also just filled out an application online and submitted it to Grazie, the Italian place that is like Figlio. gooodddd I hope I get that one. I would really prefer that job over Michael's.

Well i'm off to a picnic with Sarah. She only has like a half hour between class so we're meeting in Dunn Meadow for a romantic picnic. More later. Stay posted
10:49 Kitchen

Ok Well I'm not litrally "in the kitchen". We have a high counter dividing the kitchen and living room and there are high stools to sit on that are my favorite place to sit and do work. I think later this week I am going to take pictures of the place and post them on here. I looovee our house. Especially the "holiday corner". Tara's favorite holiday is Halloween so the creepy-ass brought back a foam tombstone, a skelton and a black candy bowl with skull pops. I put the martha stewart finishing touches on and tore apart a crappy pillow and put it around the pumpkin, tombstone and skelton to look like spiderwebs.

I'm on my way to go turn in some job apps and then go work on campus on my resume. I just spent an unreal amount of time getting ready. I feel like when I turn in applications they judge you. I mean I did when people turned ones in at Cheryls. I chose to wear my new long kacki shorts, a polo and flats. Kind of like "hey i'm not a slob but I'm kinda trendy".... right? hehe....

Wish me luck!

this weekend! SO fun. Included pictures above.
I didn't realize how much I needed it until I got there. I needed to sleep, get winter clothes and see my parents. I am big on rountines and so I decided to start some new ones this monday. 1. I started taking fish oil. I heard that it helps mental alertness. 2. Ok well it isen't really a habit but I decided to start watching the Office. It's really funny. I'm actually currently watching an episode from season 2. 3. No Coffee at night. I think it's affecting my sleeping 4. Running in the morning every monday, wednesday and friday- because I love the fall morning weather.

I worked on my resume today. I'm letting it sit for awhile and working on it again tonight. There's a IUSA congress meeting then Booshie and I are going to work at the Union. Oh I should probably let you in that I "blasted my body away", just in case next time I see you, you become worried and wonder where it went. I did a "fat blasting yoga" workout", as well as a "butt-blasting" dvd. You should attempt blasting, it's really a good time.

random unconnected thought: There is a fly that has been in our house all fricken day. It landed on me during my yoga positions and really affected my om. Now I am eating a salad and it keeps landing on my fork.

I need to go shower before congress, It's going to be a long one. Congress is funny because the guy who is the speaker has to speak in all of the legal jargon - and he is a Fiji, so I have spent many nights watching him intoxicated and incessantly hitting on Amanda and I. Oh he also looks like he's 12.
Have a good night!

10:03 Indiana Memorial Union

I'm back at the Union, the place I spent.... Well I'd say about a 1/4 of my freshman year (that is a 100% honest estimate). It was the only place I could study and it wasn't as popular as the library so I felt like it was MY thing. Boosh also is a fan of the union and I'm back with her tonight just reading some of my books and doing things like this.

I've been having a tough day. I got up, read, did Yoga, Cleaned our House, Got the Oil Changed in my car, took a walk and read on campus (It was BEAUTIFUL TODAY), Had a Board of Aeons meeting, Ate Dinner with my roommates and now I'm at the Union again. All in all pretty successful day, but I've been in a slump.

I had a GREAT weekend again (Wabash trip) but I am 100% aware that I don't have a second job. I want one really bad but I am seriously just enjoying "finding myself" and waiting for that "Perfect job". I started to read a book on ADD and it reached me so much that I could hardly get through the intro because it was like reading someone's evaluation of my life. Have a really bad case of it I've concluded and I don't think my meds are cutting it anymore. I'm exploring and still just like depressed because of it. It's hard b/c I am happy at the same time because I love where I am. I am like repressing my depression and I have a feeling like it is going to just bite me in the ass. I think the best way to describe me is SLOW. Not in a negative way but I just have to decide to do things, and then I do them in my own creative way and do them in a memorable way.

I decided that I needed goals for this year. There are certain flaws about myself that I wanted to change and this year is IT. they are completely random but here goes (this is a rough draft by the way)
-I want to start sending Thank you notes. I never do, it's rude and not a reflection about how I feel, I just always never get to it.
-I want to keep in touch with my family better than last year. Including Poppy and Grammie.
- I want to keep my spirituality a center of who I am (not necessarily religion)
-I want to travel, I won't get to during the next couple
- I want to actually write in this thing.
- I want to find the balance b/w being lazy about exercise and being neurotic like I was fall of senior year
- I want to understand my ADD, my depression and my poor grades
- I want to live my life day, by day.
- I want to feed to my hobbies. I love to cook so I should. I love to craft so I should. (aka use these as outlets instead of Facebook, TV, phone etc)
- I want to create a concrete plan for the rest of my undergrad, and get out of bill/debt
-I want to understand finances

ok well this is a short list, but realistically- although I don't have my high paying job yet I have really started to achieve a lot of these. I feel accomplished and at the end of the day know "theres always tomorrow"

4:48 Living Room

Whats that old children's rhyme... "The early bird gets the worm"? Part of my new lifestyle in Bloomington has been being the early bird... Hoping that I'll stumble on to my worm one of these mornings. Today was a complete exception. I have been having trouble sleeping and so everytime I would wake up I went back to sleep and didn't even bother to check my alarm. I finally decided the world was ready for me- but realized it was 1:00. I feel so "off", considering that I usually get up at 8:00 pm without an alarm. I felt really crafty and had an urge to invent so I took a piece of piece of plywood, painted it, nailed some stuff to it and made a mail and key board for the four of us. Then I made in my room that is central to all that I have going on, (i.e a financial update, grocery budget, days till rent is due, things to to today, things to do this week....) I really just want to conquer having to be responsible living on my own. I feel like I'm getting really good at it, but I I have a lot more goals to cover.

In response to my random post about going to an all girls school, It's something that I feel like has been randomly brought to my attention to me in the past week. Melanie is doing a project on it so we had those "opposing viewpoints" books on our coffee table, so naturally I was curious and read them. Visiting Elyse made me see that I think that environment is one I could really succeed in. It's just a thought I don't know what to think but It's something that I have never even considered.

One of my roommates is having just a CRAZY day. First, she found out one of her guy friends that she had drifted apart from got in to a nasty car wreck last night. They drifted apart at the end of high school because he got in a drugs, and that is what caused his accident. He had taken a lot of Zanex err idk how to spell it. THEN her ex boyfriend that sent us 3 boxes of wine a few weeks ago sent her a huge bouquet of flowers. No clue what's going to happen, But all I know is I'm going to make a comfort food dinner tonight. Alright I'm going to go to Yoga with Tara.

10:49

I'm watching Mona Lisa Smile with Mel and Tara, it's AMAZING. It's really though making me explore what a all girls school would be like..........
10:16am Back in Bloomington

I basically collapsed when I walked in our front door yesterday. The drive home seemed like the longest ride of my life. A mixture of things added to the general shitty-ness:
1. my favorite broadway cd to sing with was scratched
2. It was rainy.....really rainy
3. I ended up having to stop at the Apple Store in Indy b/c my shift key wiring is messed up, and I have to go BACK to get my new keyboard installed (I'm on Nicci's comp)
5. I got lost while picking up T-shirts for studnet government and ended up having to stop at a retirement home in zionsville, IN to get directions and I walked in on a WW II Veteran luncheon that I got hit on by dirty old men

phheww number one best thing:
1. I ate Taco Bell while I was sober for the first time since I was in middle school

I just needed to get home, but I got to have a reflective ride. I decided that I really don't like Garrett. He's the guy that I work for at IUSA. He just doens't bring out my best work and has me do shit work that really is just covering his ass. I understand that YES I am an assistant but still, sitting in on a meeting that he couldn't go to? PSHHH I'm better than that. I think I'm going to talk to Besty (the president) and tell her that I haven't really been "shining" becauase I am not working well with Garrett. This whole situation reminds me of senior year when I wasn't working well with Luc on Kicking it Live. Luc and Garrett have the exact same personality and I think It's definantly something I can overcome and end up making him perhaps realize how he isen't really a good delegater.

notre dame recap:
SO FUN. Having Allison there was also a treat. We never really stopped, and

I am over the stuff that happened at ND b/w David and I . Bottom line. I dealt with it while I was there. I talked it out with Court, Elo, Emery and Bethany and listened to depressing coldplay on the way home. The trip was so successful except that I didn't get to see Bethany as much (oh and Notre Dame lost....)

Today I went and explored the nature around our house, did yoga, cleaned, and now i'm going cook dinner--- But for now I think because I am still semi-upset.... I will watch ONE more episode of Sex and City.

3:42.......Elyse's Dorm Room

Still at Notre Dame. Full Recap of the weekend when I get home to Bloomington. Right now I am going to go visit Bethany, then Eat with David and finish off with my first Mass. This will be interesting

1:04 am Notre Dame, IN

A little change of scenery! I love making the trip to Notre Dame because I get to see not one, for THREE of my favorite people. Also, because I could catch so many rides up here last year I made friends with all of Elyse's College friends and now I really look forward to getting to see them again.

I couldn't decide if I was going to come up tonight or tomorrow but last night after I got done with my laundry I decided I could just throw it all in my defile bag and not have to think about packing- that basically sealed the deal. I must say the ride up this time was a lot more pleasant than the last (the last time I got a concussion the previous night...)

We didn't really do that much tonight, Elyse and I went over to ND from SMC and met David at their student center and then went back with and his roommates to his common room. The dorms have a cool set up, each boys room has 2 rooms to 1 common room. I would like it because you have one room to study and sleep, and then you never have to have temptation to do other stuff. Bethany joined us at Nemer's dorm and we all just hungout with the boys in his hallway.

I just got the news that I got a ticket to the game on Saturday for sure with Greg and Catherine (Elyse's brother and his fiance).
This is basically the worst game a buckeye could go to ; Michigan wolverine against the Fighting Irish. I promise I won't enjoy it Mom! I'm pumped though because of the Notre dame game day rituals. Also, I get to go to the pep rally tomorrow because I'm using one of David's friend's ID's. That'll help me get over the fact I'm doing the equivalent of punching Brutus Buckeye in the face.

Well I am going to call it night, I've been up since 7:30 and am getting back spasms from too much yoga...... Isn't that supposed to NOT happen with yoga?

3:11 pm

MY FIRST POST! I hope this will be a good tool to help me let everyone from home know how I am doing! This is going to be a crazy year, and I have a feeling this blog will help ME keep sane ( as well as you because obviously you would be distraut if you didn't know what was going on with me).

The weather has been so unpredictable in B-town lately. I think it is the cause of my current sneezing and runny nose. I've decided to fight the war against my immune system and I am just laying on the couch wrapped in a blanket, and I am only eating fruits, and veggies and drinking TONS of water. I have a bad anxiaty feeling because today I was really going to work on getting my second job but I guess it'll have to wait.

I think I've waited so long because I honestly don't know what I want to do. I know I know - I need to just jump in to it with my full force, but I am spending my days not cleaning either doing work at the IUSA office, Reading or working out. I guess I have only been here for 2 1/2 weeks, so I should feel like a loser YET. Every time I go to get applications I just start getting repressed memories about my last 2 jobs (Cheryl's and the Art Bookshop). I really didn't like those jobs.....

Working at the Lesbians house has been solid. I have "advanced fast", now they just let me make my own hours and I go over when I want during the week because I have the garage code. It makes me think of a Mr. Roger's quote:

"It's not the honors and the prizes and the fancy outsides of life that ultimately nourish our souls. It's the knowing that we can be trusted, that we never have to hear the truth, that the bedrock of our very being is firm. "

Working for this crazy family has been a blessing, and a lesson that you can never predict what opportunity will be on the other end of a three-line advertisement in the Indiana Daily Student.

The greatest decision I've made since I arrived is to open up a library card at the Monroe County Public Library. It's right on Kirkwood (our main drag) and is so welcoming. I have been reading like a madwoman, and have been really puntual about returning things on time ( I think I was on the UAPL wanted list many times....) I have on average about 5 books going, that feed to my wide array of interests. My Current List is:
-The Rich Life for the Frugal Woman (tips on cheap grocery shopping, and just other money saving tips)
-The World according to Mister Rogers (Amazing, amazing book. READ IT)
- French Women Don't Get Fat ( I've already read it, love the insight, basically you need to treat food like a delicacy and meal time as extremely important)
- Mary Kay (Mary Kay Ash's Biography, I'm getting in to the Mary Kay business and I figure reading about her might help me jump start- anyways if she made velocity facewash/lightweight moisturizer... She has to be worth reading about)
-The Diary of V; the affair (this is the trashy book that the woman that I'm cleaning for wrote.... I dare you to google it)

I decided to just stop my entries when I stop writing. This way I can just make random comments when needed and not feel like I have to really greet you, or say goodbye. I'm going to fold my laundry and make whole wheat pancakes.
